ARRHYTHMIA ALLIANCE AND FIRST SCOTS PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF BEAUFORT PLACE FIRST DEFIBRILLATOR AT HOLY TRINITY CLASSICAL SCHOOL

Hilton Head Island, SC- October 13, 2017 – Arrhythmia Alliance and five representatives from First Scots Presbyterian Church of Beaufort have placed a new automated external defibrillator (AED) at Holy Trinity Classical School in Beaufort, South Carolina. The AED handover took place on Friday, September 22.

The representatives from First Scots met at Holy Trinity Classical School to receive a demonstration on how to use a defibrillator from Arrhythmia Alliance’s Program Coordinator, Samantha Horstman before. This AED, which is placed in the gymnasium at Holy Trinity Classical School, is the first of these machines in the school.

Arrhythmia Alliance, who is currently promoting National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month throughout the month of October, is dedicated to creating more HEARTSafe communities and schools around the United States. Sudden cardiac arrest, a condition in which the heart stops beating unexpectedly due to a malfunction in the heart’s electrical system, is one of the leading causes of death in youth and student athletes. Having quick access to AEDs can help to prevent further loss of life from this condition.
