Thousands of strokes prevented in the UK thanks to use of anticoagulant drugs, research shows

Four thousand strokes were prevented in recent years, due to the increased use of anticoagulant drugs for patients with a common heart rhythm disorder (arrhythmia), research has shown. Atrial Fibrillation (AF), the most common arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm disturbance), has been diagnosed in around 1.5 million people in the UK alone.
