Story County Sheriff's Office Campaigning to Bring in Defibrillators

With an entire county to cover, Story County Sheriff's Office Capt. Barry Thomas said that when deputies respond to a medical call, every minute is crucial. Not too long ago, Thomas said that a deputy saw this firsthand after responding to a report of cardiac arrest in a rural area.

The deputy was one minute out when the call was received, and upon arrival performed CPR for five minutes until another first responder showed up, and an auto external defibrillator (AED) arrived three minutes later.
