Arrhythmia Alliance Takes New York City
On Wednesday, November 1, 2017, Arrhythmia Alliance hosted their first ever Know Your Pulse event in New York City. Alongside iRhythm, the team took hundreds of pulse checks and EKG/ECG readings. The event, which took place in Times Square between 43rd and 44th streets, drew in enormous numbers and support from the city. Manual pulse checks and one lead EKG’s were performed free of charge with individuals participating from 6 to 81 years of age. Conducting manual pulse checks is an early preventative action helping assist in the detection of an arrhythmia (abnormal heart rhythm.)
By the end of the event, Arrhythmia Alliance and iRhythm brought awareness of heart rhythm disorders to over 30,000 people in the New York City area, manually took the pulse of over 300 people in Times Square, and detected over 50 individuals with possible atrial fibrillation (AFib) previously undetected
